The Amazing Science Behind Rainbows

Have you wondered why and how rainbows form? I sure have! I did some research and I got a good explanation. The 7 colors of the rainbow are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.   The way I remember it is by Roy G. Biv and each letter stands for 1 color in the rainbow. The sunlight we see contains the all 7 colors of lights, but we don’t usually see the colors until it rains or there is water in the air. Rainbows are formed when white light or clear light shines through lots of water in the air according to an article. The light is bent and reflected like a reflection in a mirror, and it causes all the amazing and beautiful colors that we see. Rainbows usually appear after it rains, but it can happen whenever light is being bent inside of water droplets. Rainbows can also be seen in dew, fog, mist, or lots of water in the air. The special thing about rainbows is that no 2 people can see the same exact thing, because it depends on how the light is being bent

My first week at FECC church summer program

It’s Summertime YAY! The week of 6-20-19 I went to FECC church summer program. Would you like to see how it went? My teacher who teaches us fourth grade is named Ms.Zanida. The following are the activities we did with Ms.Zanida.   On Monday Ms.Zanida told us about what we are going to be doing during the week and she told us our spelling words and we played a game where we had to find someone in our class and we had to ask them a question that was on the piece of paper our teacher gave us. The game helped us learn about our summer classmates. On Tuesday we did a math packet with multiplication, word problems, area, and perimeter. On Wednesday the whole camp went to golf in stuff and I will tell you about it later. On Thursday we finished an English packet, and we also finshed the math packet. On Friday, we had a spelling test and watched Mulan. The thing I liked was that they provided lunch and two snacks for us. For lunch this week, they gave us noodles,

Surprising things about ladybugs

For the past few weeks I have been wondering things about ladybugs and I have learned lots of facts. I have learned enough to write a blog post about them. According to an article called Learn about Nature, ladybugs can be red, yellow, orange, gray, black, brown, and even pink! A video said European ladybugs are named after Virgin Mary and has 7 spots to remind people of Virgin Mary’s seven sorrows. Did you know that there are about 5,000 species of ladybugs? I learned that these small beetles can have a maximum of 24 spots on their wings. According to a video, ladybugs protect plants by eating insects that eat plants. Some bugs they eat are mites and white flies. People still have not figured out why ladybugs have spots, but it might mean it tastes disgusting. An article said ladybugs have the same life cycle as butterflies. The first stage is an egg. The second stage is a larva. The third stage is a pupa. The fourth and last stage is an adult ladybug. Did you know tha

My last week of school

The week of 6-3-19 it was the last week of my school. During this week I did lots of activities that were so fun but also this week it was very sad. In my third grade class, I had Ms. Ishida, my fabulous teacher for two years! My class went to Mayfair Park to watch a 6 th grade Vs. staff softball game on Monday. The 6 th grade vs. staff softball game is where 6 th graders played against staff or teachers. The staff won the game. On Tuesday, my class had a field day an end of year 3 rd grade celebration. We chose three activities and we competed against other people and I got a 3 rd place ribbon. The activities I chose were hula hoop, bean bag toss, long jump and water bucket challenge. I won 3 rd place in the water bucket challenge. After field day, every person got a Popsicle and the flavor I got was strawberry. The end of year celebration was at Mayfair Park and we played on the playground. We played board games and made a bracelet. At the end of the 3 rd grade celeb

Mysterious Things about Crayola Crayons

I have been doing some research about Crayola crayons. I want to share the things I learned with you in this blog post. The Crayola factory is located in the eastern Pennsylvania. According to an article, there are more than 600 employees in the factory. Did you know that Crayola makes about 3 billion crayons a year? Crayola was invented in 1902 and an 8-pack crayon box was only 5 cents or 1 nickel. A video said 2000 boxes of crayons were made per hour! Crayons in the 1950s got more fun names such as razz matazz, asparagus, inch worm, and purple mountains’ majesty. The crayon wrappers have three languages for the color name in three languages, English, French and Spanish. Emerso Mose was an employee of the factory, but he was color blind, which is so surprising to me because you should be able to see color to work at a crayon factory. But he probably inspired many people to do what they want even if they are color blind. First, water and various chemicals are mixed in big
