Figure Skating Update
Over the past year, I have been working hard and continuing to train in figure skating. Though there have been some major setbacks, overall, I feel like I have made good progress in my journey.
Specifically for this season, I began training in mid-December, beginning to choreograph a new program. I am skating to a mix of Cosmic Entropy, and Way Down We Go (Acoustic). I planned to compete at the level Excel Intermediate Plus, but later switched to Excel Intermediate due to a setback.
Jumping forward to March, I had begun practicing full programs, which are full out programs with all jumps and spins. I was practicing for my first qualifying competition, which took place in April. However, halfway into March, I broke my right fibula on a jump. In the moment, I was convinced that I was unable to skate for the season. However, after lots of thinking, my parents, coaches, and I decided to begin training about a month and a half after the injury and build up to make it to the last 2 competitions of the qualifying series. These two competitions were farther away from my home, and required extra travel. One too place in Reno, NV, and the other in Dallas, TX.
With my injury, I was forced to simplify my program in order to make sure my foot was still healing and less pressure was placed on it.
