U.S. Tiktok Situation

Every week in my history class, we have daily warm-ups, where we watch the CNN 10 video of the day, and then write about a topic we found to be interesting. At the end of the week, we pick the story we feel is most related and interesting about a country's domestic/foreign policy. This week, one of the major stories was about the possible Tiktok ban from U.S. devices, and I chose to write about this domestic issue.

The story of the week which is most related to a country’s domestic policy is the story about the Tiktok situation in the U.S., and the “stages” it is currently undergoing. According to CNN 10, the U.S. government has recently taken the Tiktok issue into huge hands, as they have been suspicious of Tiktok and China receiving too much personal information. This issue has been a huge argument in our country, even getting to the point of protests near the White House. If passed by the Cabinet, this bill will then become a law, and be required to be passed by Biden and the House of Representatives. If then passed by them, this leaves Tiktok with the option to either sell the company to an American company, or have it banned country-wide. This then creates conflict with the U.S. and Tiktok company, as Americans generate the most money fore the app, and are the country with the most users. This week, the Tiktok banning situation is the most noteworthy story about a country’s domestic policy.
