One of The Most Important Inventions of The 21st Ceuntry - The Smartphone

One of the most significant inventions of the 21st century is the smart/cellphone. Not only have phones made communicating with others easier, but many new forms of communication have also been discovered. For example, many "socialization" websites (such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.) have been created as an attempt to connect more people from different parts of the world. I do think that all of these social media sites work[ed], looking at the amount of user downloads and accounts created. Of course with such freedom about socializing, many things could go wrong, and as Uncle Ben says, "With great power comes great responsibility," which truly reflects the invention of phones. Most people even count on their mobile phones to be there with then 24/7, and be accessible whenever needed. I do slightly connect with this, as communicating with my parents, friends, and even teachers would be extremely difficult if not face to face. With the new invention of phone

My Typing Progression Over the School Year

Over the course of the school year, my typing skills and speed have significantly improved, thanks to the constant push and encouragement from all of my teachers this school year.  At the start of the school year, or typing journey, I averaged around 50 WPM, and that was but finger pecking and having my eyes glued to the keyboard. I remember, last school year my teachers also tried to get our class to work on our typing skills, and always talked about the importance of good typing skills, but I never really listened. This year however, with Mr. Pech (my history teacher) putting it into perspective and another point of view, I decided learning how to properly type at a good speed would be a great skill for me to learn and apply to my everyday school life. Thus, I began practicing my typing skills on Typing.com daily, adding up to 30+ minutes each week. As the year advanced, and candy incentives were available to those who actually spent time working on typing, I truly began to understa

My 4th And 5th Ice Skating Competition

Recently, I have performed in even more ice skating competitions! I competed in my fourth competition on April 29, of this year, and my fifth on May 14th of this year. Both went pretty smoothly for the most part, and I am proud of myself for the performances I demonstrated to the judges and everyone else.  My fourth competition was a little different from the rest, as I had to travel and spend the night in a hotel to compete. I competed at UTC ice in La Jolla, for La Jolla open. I competed at the same level (Excel Preliminary Plus) with the same program as my last competition.  Two days prior to this competition, however, I fell on an entry into a spin, and slammed my elbow onto the ice...twice in a row. It did hurt to move it, but it was HORRIBLE. I am pretty sure I bruised my bone, along with having my joint stick out a little more than usual due to swelling. However, my elbow felt better, and I was able to compete though it was not completely healed. My performance this time around

Ice Skating "Update"

It had been a little while since I have updated my current in progress skills and other levels of my ice skating journey. I have been pretty focused on competitions for the last few months, but have still made sure to work on other skills to help me progress once my competitions are over. Jumps Besides my competition program jumps (single axel, single lutz, single flip, and flip combinations jumps), I have really been focusing on double jumps. I dedicate almost half my session time each practice to my doubles, which I am trying to break in order to have enough time to cover all my skills. I have started practicing all of the double jumps so far, (double salchow, double toe-loop, double loop, double flip, double lutz, and double axel). My more consistent of the 6 have been double toe, loop, and flip. The double salchow has been named the easiest of the 6, yet I struggle with it the most I would say. I can land this jump consistently, but it is just slightly almost always underrotated an
