Benefits of Sending Ukraine Weapons Argument Essay

                                         Benefits of Sending Ukraine Weapons

The U.S. has provided Ukraine with $3.4 billion in weapons since Russia’s invasion (Macias, 2022).  Some people think that sending Ukraine weapons is a bad idea, as it can cause many dramatic changes to the U.S. and its government.  However, many people think that sending Ukraine weapons can benefit both the Ukrainian and the U.S. government.  The U.S. should be supplying Ukraine with weapons during their war against Russia.

One reason why the U.S. should be supplying Ukraine with weapons is to help prevent more deaths/injuries of innocent Ukrainian people and soldiers.  For example,  providing Ukraine with weapons can protect the lives of wholesome and blameless citizens living in targeted cities (Salvanto, Salvanto, and De Pinto, 2022).  Providing weapons to the Ukrainian troops benefits them because the more weapons and armor their troops have, the more likely soldiers are able to protect their country.  Additionally, over 3,400 Ukrainian citizens have died because of war, and over 3,700 have been injured (“Ukraine Civilian Deaths ‘Thousands Higher’ Than Officials Figure”, 2022).  This shows that we should be supplying Ukraine with weapons because it can help prevent another spike of deaths/injuries.  Finally, over 1,300 Ukrainian soldiers have died because of the war (Cooper, E. Barnes, and Schmitt, 2022).  As soldiers have one of the biggest roles in a fight, losing them is one of the worst things that could happen.  Sending Ukraine weapons adds more reassurance to those risking their lives to save humanity in their precious country.  Providing Ukraine with weapons can help them in many ways, one of them being preventing deaths and injuries of Ukrainian citizens.

Another reason why the U.S. should be supplying Ukraine with weapons is to help us build our relationship with other countries.  For instance, supporting/supplying Ukraine with weapons can show other countries that we will still be there for our friends/allies even when times get rough (Deliso, 2022).  Since support is one of the key points to a good, healthy friendship, supporting and helping Ukraine can show other countries that we are trustworthy friends and that we will be there for them whenever they need (Kirby, 2022).  Because of this, we can build allies (or build relationships with previous allies) who can turn into close friends, both supporting each other when they most need it.  Furthermore, providing Ukraine with weapons can act as a reflection of the U.S. role in the world.  This benefits the U.S. in the leadership role in the world. Ultimately, it is reflected in the friendship and allying bonds (Salvanto, Salvanto, and De Pinto, 2022).  Even though we don’t usually think about it, supplying Ukraine with weapons can also benefit us and our relationship with other countries.

Opponents may argue that supplying Ukraine with weapons during this tough time can increase the already high government spendings (Deliso, 2022).  Nevertheless, we should be spending more money on “useless weapons” for our friends/allies (who are in threatened danger) rather than the actual useless items the government buys.

Supplying Ukraine with weapons during their fight against Russia can lead to many benefits.  Not only can it prevent injuries/deaths in attacked cities, but can also help other countries and build our relationship with them.  As war is one of the last things we want to see in modern society, it is important to get as many people as possible to support donating weapons to the attacked troops in the ongoing war.  Simple things such as sharing the support for supplying Ukraine with weapons through social media can one day make a huge difference in our world.
