 Social media is often thought to have positive and negative qualities. In this text, how is social media portrayed? What impact did it have on the people of Texas?

During an emergency rescue, social media is protrayed to have positive qualities. Social media helped many citizens in Texas get to saftey safley. In the text, it states that people with boats, kayaks, etc. were able to find stranded citizens and bring them to saftey with the help of social media websites. This shows that social media has positive qualities during an emergency resuce because of how much easier it is to find stranded people. People who were stranded would contact their family members, who would then create social media posts describing where their loved ones were. Then, people with boats or resuce workers would be able to safley escort them to saftey. The text also states that "911 dispatchers and rescue workers worked as hard and as fast as they could, but the disaster was still far to great." This shows that social media is a positive thing during emergencies because it can assit rescue workers to places where many people are stranded. Instead of rescuers searching around for hours and only finding a couple of people, they would be able to find hundereds for the same amount of time, saving many more people.
