How animals grow (School science unit)

Since the 3rd Trimester in my school has started, we have been learning about how animals grow to figure out why some animal populations have been going down near the Cota Rica rainforest. To be honest, it was been a fun unit so far and I really like learning about animals.

We learned that animals grow by eating food, getting sleep, and exercising/playing with other animals.

First off, I need to say that everything (including air) is made of matter which is made up of molecules which are made up of atoms.

When animals eat food, the molecules and atoms in the food go into their body. Once animals digest enough food, they grow a little bit at a time.

Exercising also helps an animal’s body grow because it helps them get stronger so they can become bigger stronger animals.

When animals sleep, they get rest after a long day. It is really important when animals are growing so they can be as healthy as possible. Rest helps an animal “calm down” and get ready for a new day.

All of these things also help us humans grow and become bigger and stronger so it is important to eat, exercise, and get sleep especially when we are still growing.

To sum it up, when animals eat food, the atoms and molecules go into their body. Once the animals have digested enough food, it starts to grow a little. Exercising and getting rest also help an animal grow bigger and stronger. The same applies to us humans and it is very important to do these while growing.

My school science unit has been so fun so far and I am really excited to learn more about animals and how their bodies work and grow.
