South Carolina
For school, my social studies teacher told us about a group project we had to do. I really didn’t want to do this because it means I have to get along with other people and they don’t always do work. We had to make slides on one of the original 13 colonies but I used those facts to make a mini essay.
We had to work with 2 other people and I was not very happy with the people I got. We got the colony South Carolina and had to answer 5 questions but in a slide format. My 2 partners were Isabella and Marco. First of all, Isabella barley even goes to school and Marco never pays attention so I had to do almost all the work by myself.
When was it founded and who founded it? (1st
Slide)
From our research, South Carolina was founded on March 26, 1663. It was founded by King Charles the II and was founded after King Charles gave the land to 8 men now known as the lord proprietors. For this slide, we put bullet points and some pictures. We had a white background and each picture was animated to go into a perfect fitting slot.
Why did people come to South Carolina? (2nd
Slide)
Most people came to South Carolina to escape the revolutionary war but other people came just for a better life during the Colonial Period. Most people came from England and many people came on old fashion wagons on The Great Valley Road. For this slide, we had a forest background and again had bullet point. There were also 3 pictures that were also all animated.
What goods did South Carolina have? (3rd Slide)
South Carolina had rice, cotton, corn, lots of trees, and lots of water resources. They also had a large supply of vegetables such as squash, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and cucumber just to name a few. South Carolina also has the best beaches out of all the colonies and it has some of the most beautiful sunsets. For this slide, we had a dark blue background with many pictures and a cool format.
Who were the first people to come to South Carolina? (4th
Slide)
The first person to explore/find South Carolina was a Spanish explorer named Francisco Gordillo who explored the land in 1521. Then, an explorer named Vazquez De Ayllon explored the land. They both are known for being the first people to find the land. After more people heard about it, more and more people started visiting South Carolina and many people enjoyed it. This slide has an orange and white background with animated pictures and bullet points.
Fun Facts (5th slide aka last slide)
If you didn’t know South Carolina actually produces the most peaches in the US! Yes even more than Georgia which is the state known for peaches! The first battle of the Civil war also took place in South Carolina which isn’t exactly good but it’s a cool fact to know about US history. South Carolina is nicknamed as the Palmetto state and is known to have amazing beaches, beautiful views of mountains and have delicious food.
In my opinion, this group project didn’t go super well but I learned a lot and explored Google slides a lot.
