My Marine Biology Class
From 7-13-20 through 7-24-20 I had a very fun class and I learned about Marine Biology. I learned a lot of fun facts and played some fun games to help us memorize some facts.
Usually we learn about a different sea animal/creature every day. But on some fun and special days we would do some fun things near the end of class after we learn about a ocean creature. Also our teacher for this class is Mr. Rook.
Some amazing ocean animals we learned about were the sea turtle, sharks, whales, fish, jellyfish, and many more amazing sea animals.
I really liked the facts I learned about the jellyfish because I never really studied jellyfish that much and I was really surprised by the facts. I learned that jellyfish are actually not fish at all. They do not have any bones like fish do. And the reason it has Jelly in their name is because they have a thin layer kinda like skin and it feels like jelly.
During our 2 week class we did 2 dissections and 2 rounds of Jeopardy.
Our first dissection was on the first Friday. That day our teacher cut open a dead and raw crawfish. It was really gross but we got to see some of their body parts.
The second dissection was on the last Friday. On that day our teacher cut open a dead small shark. We realized that, that shark was pregnant and we saw the baby shark. We also cut that open and it looked exactly like its mom but everything is smaller.
The first round on Jeopardy was on the second Monday. We got to have partners and my partner was someone named Ellie. We did the questions together and got many points and I think this is a really good way to make sure we remember facts.
The second round of Jeopardy was on the last day which is Friday. We could either choose to have the same partners or have different partners. I chose to have the same partner because she is really nice and I think she is also smart and remembers facts.
I think that this is one of the best classes I have been to because I learned a lot and had lots of fun in this class. I also think that Mr. Rook is a good teacher and teaches really well.
