The Most Influential Events in US History Leading to the American Revolution

There were many influential events in history which led to the American Revolution and birth of our country, it is impossible to choose only a single event. However, some had greater impacts than others. Those included different acts opposed by the British, many different documents and written pieces, and many events and incidents, which all led to the decline and birth of the US.  The Tea Acts/Boston Tea Party and Stamp Act were both acts in which unfair rules were placed upon the colonists, and declined the relationship between the two parties. The Stamp Act was one of the first out of many to be placed to tax the colonists for basic, everyday items. According to Document C, “An act for granting and applying certain stamp duties…in the British colonies and plantation in America, towards defraying the expenses of defending, protecting, and securing the same.” This act, like all others, angered the colonists, making them feel as if their freedom and life were dedicated to helping the

Female Leadership Academy Expierence

Recently, I have taken the amazing opportunity to join my school's female leadership. It was an application based program, and I was accepted! Members are required to attend weekly "meetings" after school, and do many fun activities to help motivate us and other girls around campus. It has been going on for over 2 months now, and I have had a lot of fun and made many memories so far.  We have meetings every Wednesday, from 2:45-3:45. Applications were open to all grade levels, so there is a good mix of grades and ages. I have multiple friends also in, and I have met many new people since I joined. Our "teacher" is Mrs. Kilkenny, and she is one of the nicest teachers I have ever experienced having.  Our "daily routine" of our meetings starts with snacks, each week brought by a different member of our club. Usually, they consist of chips, cookies, and a small fruit - usually cutie oranges. Then, we are introduced into the "main" activity for t

Thoughts

Being a 13 year old girl in our society, I experience many new emotions, thoughts, and feelings. Many changes have happened over the past few months, and I just keep reminding myself that it is not that serious and none of this will matter in future years.  Many friendship problems pop up, especially with this one girl who has been my "friend" for over 7 years if you know you know! All for dumb reasons, with her getting angry at everything. Sometimes I wish I could slap her right in the face, but that wouldn't do well in my school record. Other small friendship events happen from here and there, but this girl is the main problem. Also being in junior high going into high school next year, many, many, many homework and assignments are given out. I do not consider myself "stressed," but I recently have been forced to stay up pretty late in order to finish assignments. Just as a way to cope with all the work coming in, I just remind myself that these grades will n

10 Things I Would Tell Incoming Middle Schoolers (From a Graduating 8th Grader)

Dear reader,  If you are a 5th grader becoming a 6th grader next year, or already a 6th grader, meaning it is about the time you enter middle school and start maturing into a young teenager, here are 10 things I’ve been meaning to tell you.  It is a huge jump from elementary school to middle school, but there are always people who will help guide & push through.  My elementary teachers always warned me of all of the changes from elementary to middle, and I am here to confirm their words, in a positive way. Yes, work will start to get harder and pile up, but there is also a lot more freedom and activities available. It all might take some time to get used to, but that's okay, things will start to feel more natural as time goes on. Always try your best, no matter what & continue to push yourself to grow. Breathe. Take time for yourself every here and there, you will need it. Once in a while, also do some stress-relieving activities that you enjoy, such as reading, writing,
