Nomadic Vs Sedentary Lifestyle - Which I Would Live In

If I could choose to live with the nomadic or sedentary lifestyle, I would choose to live with the sedentary. To start, the sedentary lifestyle stays permanently in a single place, while the nomadic are constantly moving and traveling. I prefer staying in one place rather than always traveling, because you can just settle in more. If you are constantly on the move around the world, it is almost like you have many different houses, but you cannot call just one your home. The sedentary lifestyle also farms & grows crops, while the nomadic hunt and gather. Don’t get me wrong, you can hunt all different types of animals in the nomadic, but it is pretty challenging to do that. With farming and growing crops, you still the necessities you need to survive, and they are all conveniently in one area. Also, living in the sedentary lifestyle has merchants, who are the main people who trade and travel. You have access to everything you need to survive, along with other foreign spices and mat

"Diplomacy With Food" Video Reflection Paragraph

This paragraph is set up how I write Reflective Paragraphs in my history class. I picked a video on YouTube and decided to write a paragraph reflecting what I learned  with some personal connections thrown in. After watching the short video entitled "Why There Are So Many Thai Restaurants," I have gained new insights and understandings about the political side of food and restaurants. Before watching the video, I had no idea that food could have politics tied with it because it is an essential for life. After watching the video, however, I now understand the idea of soft power - countries focusing on  creating a good self-image to attract tourists. As much as I do not want to, I do understand why countries would do this, as  it could definitely boost their income and population. An example of "soft power" which is very popular these days is South Korea and their K-pop music. Besides some food dishes, I feel that K-pop is what boosted Korea's popularity the most

My First Quarter of Middle School

Recently, I finished my first quarter of my seventh grade school year, time has flown by so fast. From being the new kid and knowing 2 people, I think I made excellent progress with friends and learning my way around campus.  When the year first started and I first went into middle school, I was extremely upset that I would not be going to the same school as my elementary friends. As the year progressed, however, I am actually glad I was able to switch not only schools but also districts. I get a whole new start instead of staying with the people I have been with for seven years. Don't get me wrong, I do really miss my other friends and classmates, but I think it was a good choice my parents made for me. My main concern going to a new school is making friends and being able to fit in. After spending over 3 months here however, I realize that I am able to do that just fine. I have many friends who helped me make me feel welcome, same goes for my teachers.  So far, my grades this qu

My Second Ice Skating Competition

Recently, I competed in my second ever ice skating competition. It was both a nerve-racking and exciting experience for me, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. It was held at the same rink as my first competition, Lakewood Ice Rink. I competed at the Pre-Preliminary level, and my technical components included 2 single axels, a single lutz, a single flip, and 2 combination spins. I skated to the song Confident by Demi Lovato, which I feel like really suit my personality and speed on the ice.  I think that I performed pretty good, I thought that I was fast, did my chorography well, and did pretty good on my technical elements. The only few mess ups I had were a wobble near the beginning, and the first spin since it was right after one of my jumps. I competed with four other girls, around the same age as me. I got fourth place, and got a medal. Not going to lie, I thought I did better than the girl who got third place, as I landed both of my axels and had stronger  landings, but it's what
