My 2021 Christmas

Since 2021 is nearly over, it means Christmas is here! This year, I didn't do much to celebrate, but I still had a fun day. Personally, Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, making every one special and different. This year for Christmas, I had to go to my parents work since we were going on vacation right after. I usually dread going there, but it wasn't that bad since the Christmas spirit was in the air. I mainly stayed in one room the whole time, but I went outside to help out a little.  After staying at my parents work, we went on a vacation to Palm Springs. We went to a few really nice hiking spots where we saw waterfalls, creeks, trees, and horses. The one trail I really like is one where you have to jump onto rocks and over a creek to go on. It is almost like an obstacle course since you have to have strong legs and good balance. Overall, I really enjoyed this small vacation we went on because we did many fun things and my whole family went which doesn't happen

Question 1 :  Why does Karana, the narrator, decide not to shoot the wounded dog? Answer 1 : I believe that Karana decided not too shoot the dog because it already seemed dead, laying down and not moving. Karana might have felt bad for what she already did to it, even if she hated it with all her might. In the text, it states that “The big dog lay there and did not move and this may be the reason. If he had gotten up I would have killed him”. This shows that Karana would have harmed the dog more if it were standing and not laying down because of how guilty she is already feeling, hurting the dog to the point where it can’t stand anymore. Question 2 : Do you think Karana has hunted with a bow and arrow before? Answer 2 : I think that Karana has hunted with a bow and arrow before because of how used to the steps and formula she seems to it. The text states that Karana “had a second arrow ready”, probably showing how she has had not-so-good experiences with hunting animals in the pas

Question 1 :  Explain how the author uses the first four paragraphs to indicate Brian’s realization of the severity of his situation. Answer 1 : The author added small sections where it shows what Brian is thinking and how he is feeling. “They might come today” shows how Brian is starting to get worried and concerned about if he were to get saved or not. He also is starting to remember what people did in movies or TV shows to see if anything he remembered would help him in his current situation. This all proves that Brian is finally starting to realize how serious and dangerous his situation is because of how he reacting (panicked) to every small thought that comes in mind. Question 2 : Paragraph 6 consists of a single four-word sentence fragment. Why would Paulsen only include these four words in the paragraph? What do they reveal about Brian’s situation?
